JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

SOURCING

Investment Thesis / Themes

Run with the Investment validation process

Network within the industry and develop understanding of key opportunities and risks for investment theme identified

Proactively scanning relevant sectors, including the economic and regulatory environment, for trends and opportunities.

Research and identify potential investment prospects from databases, screening various proposals, etc actively read sector publications to follow trends and find leads

Monitoring the financial news and updating the infrastructure team of material information in the target sector and companies

Building Relationships and Investment acumen

Gather market intelligence across intermediaries / companies

Helps define key investment analysis parameters, fact finding required to assess investment proposals

Gathering and synthesizing industry and market data. Conduct concise industry/business analysis, by understanding the key business drivers.

Able to perform error free analyses and fact finding required to assess investment opportunity including performing comp / peer analysis

Make calls to prospects. Set up meetings with prospects and contribute to deal flow.

Prepare pre-proposal and proposal input for presentations/investments memos.

INVESTMENT Deal Structuring

Evaluating new investment proposals or potential target businesses across infrastructure sectors, including financial analysis, valuation exercises, financial and project finance modelling etc

Translate conceptual deal structures to tangible, numerical proposal

Develop detailed excel models to assess and quantify impact of various deal structures on potential investments

Draft the internal memos for the investment committee

Find data from unconventional sources

Drafting oral and written materials for management and investors

Work with legal /tax advisors to optimize deal structure and address all fiscal inefficiencies

Due Diligence and Closure

Executing the entire due diligence efforts and ensuring high quality end delivery within timelines. Focus diligence efforts on key investment thesis and risks with appropriate guidance from the seniors.

Provide backup data, analysis, industry comparable, market intelligence to assist in deal negotiations

Ensure risks identified by team / Investment Committee are adequately addressed at diligence stage.

Run sensitivity analysis to support deal terms negotiations

Identify bottlenecks leading to delays if any and pointing out red flags

Ensure terms secured are with robust security and adequate legal protection

POST INVESTMENT AND EXIT

Obtains regular MIS; analyze actual performance and re-forecasted data and compares with plan, with reasons for variances

Develops good relationships with senior management team; gets regular updates on true state of affairs of the business

Monitor adherence to commercial terms agreed and provide accurate and unbiased view on performance of portfolio including future performance (surprises, shocks etc)

Writing reports regarding the performance of investee companies for portfolio review

Supporting the senior team members to set up appropriate financial controls and governance structures within investee companies

KEY SKILLS

Outstanding academic background with undergraduate degree from IITs / equivalent qualification, along with post graduate degree in business / accounting from premier institutes

3-5 years' maximum relevant experience, including a track record of working in infrastructure sector in India is essential

Experience of investing in / advising investments in infrastructure as a part of private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, or financial audit teams is desirable

An understanding of project finance and strong financial modelling skills are imperative

Report writing and advanced knowledge of Excel imperative

Analytical, research, problem solving and valuation skills, including the ability to analyse company reports, sector data, economics and relevant political events

Good business communication and presentation skills

Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects effectively

Understanding of key infrastructure sectors and associated issues with key understanding of equity investment in infrastructure projects

Ability to operate with limited supervision. Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership; eager to learn and work with others.
